Congratulations to Stella Brown and Hoku!

Stella Brown has owned horses since she was a child. She's learned a lot over the years, and if you talk with her, you'll find she really knows her stuff! You'll also find Stella is always willing to help a fellow equestrian.

Her horses are Hoku Alii (meaning Star King in Hawaiian) and Show Girl (Hoku's mom). Hoku was trained in part by Lou Roper. Together Stella and Hoku travel all over the western US competing in various events including side saddle, while Show Girl gets to stay home and relax.

Stella recently returned from the Gold Coast Amateur Show in Watsonville, CA where she took first place in several catagories. Hoku won Pure Arab - Trail and high point for Pure Bred Arabian Gelding. Stella has been invited to return again next year!

Congratulations Stella and Hoku!!

Congratulations to Scott Finby and daughter Ashby, on the birth of their new baby horse.

A new addition to the family arrived on the evening of May 29th at approximately 8:00 pm.

Scott was busy cleaning mom's stall and noticed the little guy was on his way. Several people from the ranch were in attendence at the time of the birth, which was an exciting event. Mom has proven to be a great mom.

Scott and Ashby have other horses at the ranch, including another recent addition, Fresco, a 6 month old oldenburg colt.

The new foal was just registered as Fein Prediction. His sire is Feiner Stern and the Dam is Secret Prediction. But this little guy's barn name is Hoot. Why? Well, he has the cutest little swirls with a white spot making him look like he has the image of an owl on his face.

You can visit both mom and baby in the larger open stalls on the east end of the ranch. .

Congratulations to Ashley Taylor on her first place trophy for English Equitation!

In a recent event at Miramar, Ashley took first place in English Equitation and came home with a beautiful trophy and several ribbons.

Ahley's been riding at Sycamore Canyon Stables since she was 6, although she's ridden since she was barely 2. She's nearly 13 now. Ashley began training with Cindi (owner of Sycamore Canyon Stables). Ashley's mom credits Cindi with providing Ashley with a good basic skill set from which to build. "That training was priceless! I don't think Cindi knows how grateful I am to her for her interaction with my daughter." With the training Ashley received, she is fast becoming a great rider. She has done several shows and with guidence from various people at the ranch, she is moving up the show ladder.

Ashley enjoys jumping with her horse Ducer (Ducer's Wild Quest) pictured here. And she has another great horse named Harry (Defiant Heritage) who was her first horse.

Ashley will be moving to Iowa soon, where her own horse ranch awaits.
